Maybe Rafael should just use a mail-interface which Works[tm] :)

With Kmail, I saw you patch inline, and in a little tree-view below it so I 
could use "save as" on it if I choose. 

However, I don't use Thunderbird, so I can't say how you would specifiy 
inline vs. attached there (in Kmail, this is rather easy, tho).
