Michael, I don't think the perl6 is entirely a mutual masterbation session, 
and I never suggested there was no work being done - I know perl6 has a lot 
of effort behind it.  However, I do think the public perception of perl is on 
a serious slide and that the current PERCEPTION of PERL6 is one, and not the 
only one, of the reasons.  And, yes, it's a PR problem of the greatest 
magnitude, that was one of the reasons I asked on the advocacy list about 
maintainance of the perl timeline, which has not been updated since 2001/2.
