Although Perl6 contains many of the ideas of Perl5. It isn't a simple rewrite of Perl5. But I like the initial idea of Perl6, to keep the things we like remove the things we don't. But instead of doing a rewrite, I prefer to start with the current code, and actually have a new version in a year. But there are many things that coincides with Perl6, like the need for a CPAN which can manage modules with versions for different Perls, like conversion tools to help convert code for PerlX to PerlY. So there are many areas where our goals and needs overlap, and of course we should work together on those issues. Or maybe we should revive Ponie and use Parrot as back-end, but making it a lot easier by not wanting 100% backward compatibility. Gerard Goossen
