What a fun thread.  My proposal for renaming perl 5 for the future was "TERN"
and I even set up a mailing list somewhere.  After reading this thread
I wish I could
check out from life for several weeks and write an incomplete perl to
python translator
which would probably start with perltidy or possibly parse::recdescent
or possibly
something else.
