This is a bug report for perl from a.r.ferreira@gmail.com,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.35 running under perl v5.8.7.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

With perl 5.8.7 (both in cygwin as well win32) I get

       $ perl -e 'my $grep = 1; grep $grep (1, 2, 3)'
       panic: ck_grep at -e line 1.

Obviously, from C<perldoc -f grep> this is not one
of the usages of C<grep>:

       grep BLOCK LIST
       grep EXPR,LIST

but the panic is a extreme measure. Would it be a syntax
error?

This error is also generated by

       v5.8.7 built for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
