Module::Install is, actually, my fault. :-)

I don't know about search.cpan.org, but I've just committed a change to
PAUSE to support them both. (rev457 -- although Andreas will need to
review it for production first.)

I guess "private" will be deprecated and eventually ignored, since it's
not going to affect old, already-indexed distributions.
