I've built 5.8.1 on OS X 10.2.8 with the new gcc 3.3 20030304 (Apple build
1493) with fink libraries and aside from the usual DB_File failures
(which is a little odd since I should be using libdb from fink) the
threads libc test failed.

It fails a little differently each time, but every time its with
"not a safe localtime". Here's a typical run:

[/usr/local/src/perl-5.8.1/t] ./perl harness -v ../ext/threads/t/libc.t
../ext/threads/t/libc....1..11
not ok 1 # not a safe localtime
ok 2
not ok 3 # not a safe localtime
not ok 4 # not a safe localtime
not ok 5 # not a safe localtime
ok 6
not ok 7 # not a safe localtime
ok 8
not ok 9 # not a safe localtime
ok 10
ok 11
FAILED tests 1, 3-5, 7, 9
        Failed 6/11 tests, 45.45% okay
Failed Test Stat Wstat Total Fail Failed List of Failed

../ext/threads/t/libc.t 11 6 54.55% 1 3-5 7 9
Failed 1/1 test scripts, 0.00% okay. 6/11 subtests failed, 45.45% okay.

The run right after that failed with "4-5 8 11". The next is "4 6-7 10".

Is this the result of (from README.macosx) "Earlier Mac OS X releases did
not include a completely thread-safe libc"?
