Both Hugo and I would like to see a way of splitting perl down,
particularly "as small as possible"
(but still able to fetch and build everything else.
 You can go 1 smaller, and rely on an OS package manager to do the fetch bit)

There's a list about this but little is happening:

Most importantly Jos and myself actually volunteered to do something.
(with witnesses. How stupid can you get?)
So we should get somewhere at some point.
