# New Ticket Created by srathkopf@juno.com # Please include the string: [perl #23735] # in the subject line of all future correspondence about this issue. # <URL: http://rt.perl.org/rt2/Ticket/Display.html?id=23735 > I have downloaded this version of Perl from Perl.org's download icon. It appeared to successfully download and copy all files. There are several "perl" appliations. Some create a window. Some do not. Those that do, do not respond to such simple lines as "perl -w example.pl" executed from C:\PERL\BIN\EG. Neither do they respond to "perl -v". I was told that I need to install this version before I can use it, but find NO application or bat file to do the install. What is the correct procedure for installing my copy of Perl 5.8? This is a CRITICAL matter, as I cannot use the version of Perl without - apparently - doing the install. So, How do I install it? >From which directory do I 'run' it? Which application or .bat file do I use to 'use' it? Please answer soon, I am frustrated. I have used Perl on Unix without problem, but seem stymied in getting it to work on MS-Windoze.
