I believe this has only historical reasons: the underscores in the
core were in use to hide these modules from the indexer. But for a
while now it is the rule that modules in perl releases are not indexed
if there is a standalone release of them available, no matter what the
version tells.

So we can safely remove underscores if this is something that helps
you.

I haven't thought that through and cannot say if I recommend that, I
just wanted to answer your question.
