On any platform that expects utility scripts to have a file extension (currently VMS, Win32, and Netware), utils/cpan will fail to install because it has no extension. It seems messy to hack installperl to allow for this one exception. Is there any reason cpan doesn't follow the convention of all the other utility scripts and provide a cpan.PL that gets processed into a cpan.EXT where ".EXT" is whatever the local system requires? -- ________________________________________ Craig A.
