I must admit that I really don't care *that* much whether we get the
code for the integer modulo compiled down to one or few assembler ops.
There are far worse slowdowns in upper layers of Perl.

That being said, no, we don't have a macro hiding the different abs()
interfaces, and yes, they would be nice.  Not that we have many abs()
calls in the sources at the moment.
