This is a bug report for perl from book@cpan.org,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.33 running under perl v5.6.1.

[Please enter your report here]
I wanted to try the experimental (??{ }) regexp construct in a split:
#!/usr/bin/perl
#use re 'debug';
my $i; sub n { ++$i }
my $c = 'a';
my $s = join '', map { $c++ x $_ } 1 .. shift;
print join "|", split /((??{"."x n()}))/, $s;
$ perl split_with_postponed_re 1
|a
$ perl split_with_postponed_re 2
|a||bb
$ perl split_with_postponed_re 3
|a||...||ccc
Expected: |a||bb||ccc
$ perl split_with_postponed_re 4
|a||....|4|ccc||dddd
Expected: |a||bb||ccc||dddd
$ perl split_with_postponed_re 5
|a||.....|5|ccc||dddd||eeeee
Expected: |a||bb||ccc||dddd||eeeee
Commenting out the use re 'debug' line gives a rather long output, but
it looks quite normal.
Tested with perl5.8.0, perl5.6.1 and bleadperl, with the same results.
