[ID 20010928.030] glob on expression without wildcards returnssame expression
Message ID:
This is a bug report for perl from,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.33 running under perl v5.6.1.

If glob() is given an expression without wildcards, it always
returns the same expression. This seems insane. I think it should
return the expression if a file by that name exists, and otherwise it
should return an empty list. This behavior also exists on an
older Windows version of perl. Here is a demonstration, which
will print the "Strange" message unless you happen to have a file
with the name 'p.q'.

# Set $expr to be a filename without wildcards which does not exist
my $expr='p.q';
my @files = glob($expr);
foreach my $file(@files) {
   if (-e $file) {
      print "OK..file $file exists\n";
   else {
      print "Strange.. glob returned file $file which doesn't exist\n";
