I had to shout this on IRC, and now I find myself having to shout
it here.

    VSTRINGS ARE REALLY SIMPLE.
    vx.y.z == join '', map ord, x, y, z
    THAT'S ALL.
    NOTHING ELSE.

The fact that people use them for versions is irrelevant; people
use them for IP addresses and Unicode strings as well. It's just
a way of making a string out of codepoints. That's all.
