PerlIO regerssion tests?

./perl -lwe 'binmode STDERR, ":unix"'
Segmentation fault

This would be a bad thing, wouldn't it?
However it's not as bad as the fact that we don't have regression tests for
this sort of thing, is it? :-(

Where should they go?

I don't have the source code for the last perl I built with -g still around,
so all I can offer is

(gdb) where
#0 0xc0ce4 in PerlIOUnix_oflags ()
#1 0xc0e18 in PerlIOUnix_pushed ()
#2 0xbf760 in PerlIO_push ()
#3 0xbf8e4 in PerlIO_apply_layera ()
#4 0xbf950 in PerlIO_apply_layers ()
#5 0xbf9c0 in PerlIO_binmode ()
#6 0x9c81c in Perl_pp_binmode ()
#7 0x699a8 in Perl_runops_standard ()
#8 0x1f508 in S_run_body ()
#9 0x1f16c in perl_run ()
#10 0x1c464 in main ()
#11 0x400e6360 in __libc_start_main () from /lib/libc.so.6
