This is a build failure report for perl from,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.33 running under perl v5.7.1.

Quick heads-up: I'll try to come up with some patches in the near future.
Please copy me explicitly on follow-ups: I'm not subscribed to p5p at the

1. Quite a lot of "warning: implicit declaration of function `blah'"
from gcc 2.8.1 during compilation of the core. (XS code is
comparatively clean.) This may be down to slapdash headers. Will

2. Three warnings from DB_File.xs and five from DB_File,c (huh?)
"warning: unused variable `Perl___notused'"; "warning: assignment
from incompatible pointer type" on DB_File,xs lines 914 and 957;
"DB_File.xs:1617: warning: label `not_there' defined but not used"

3. "lib/1_compile......................require failed with 'Can't
locate I18N/ in @INC (@INC contains: lib) at lib/
line 13.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at lib/ line 13.
Compilation failed in require at (eval 1) line 1.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at (eval 1) line 1.
FAILED at test 67"

Underlying problem seems to be that I18N::Langinfo is not getting
built on this statically-linked system.

4. "ext/Time/HiRes/HiRes...............FAILED at test 19"
Well, it fails because I have to shoot its horse out from under it:
the test just burns CPU in the "while (getitimer(ITIMER_VIRTUAL))"
loop. This may be a crocked implementation in MachTen, or it may be
something to do with the fact that MachTen runs atop non-preemptable
Mac OS (which doesn't make it any less of a crock).

is encountered a second time at ../lib/File/ line 414."
Humph. I'm using a UNIX-sematics filesystem. Perhaps I get this error
because I'm using dont_use_nlink nevertheless in order that
File::Find can also work on the Mac's HFS filesystems.
