While doing this (which is, by the way, extremely welcome) I hope you
do test also in 5.005_03.  I would suspect the large majority of Perl
installations is still living in the 5.005-time.  (Being oh-oh-five
compatible may require some back pedaling, like our() -> use vars,
but that's the price of portability.)
