I've requested the HP machines be left on for over the (long) weekend, so I
think I might be able to address it here. I'm heavily stuck with my attempt to
build perl with gcc. Base passes, but almost every module choacks. Might as
well be DynaLoader problems.

I've told my chief to order vac 5. When (or should I say /if/ with IBM?) that
arrives, I can tell if it `solves' the problem. If not, I can dig further. If
it does, we somehow have to either document it to fail (reluctant towards that,
cause it used to work) or find the source (which might than be in the compiler
and thus proves hard to solve).
