Hi, I like version 5.005, and I don't want to move on 5.6. (I also have 486DX4, and VC++ 5.0 && Win95 :) After some unsuccessfull module instalations (with perl Makefile; nmake; ...) I tried to compile perl myself. Command.com was a little bit stupid, so I've change it with 4DOS. Then I started compiling... And everything went fine, until the part where the module called Socket was to be created. First there was a notice how to use xsubpp, and that I have seen before. I think that there is some problem with interpreting && in command line, but 4DOS supports this operator. The problem might be in miniperl, which gets all from command line input, but this is also strange, because command line interpreter is the first who interprets:) the line. I'm just curious is someone had experienced this problem and how it was solved. Also, was there some patch against MakeMaker or some of its relatives. Thanks. PS, attachment is next run of nmake.
