[ID 20010330.006] incorrect WARNING from installperl "You'venever run 'make test' or some tests failed!"
Message ID:

This is a bug report for perl from dcd@tc.fluke.com,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.33 running under perl v5.7.0.

[Please enter your report here]

After doing a make test in the the latest perl 5.7.0
it reported "All tests successful." so I was
surprised that make install starts off by
issuing the WARNING that I had
"never run 'make test' or some tests failed!"

dd:perl-current$ sudo make install

./perl installperl
WARNING: You've never run 'make test' or some tests failed! (Installing anyway.)

After inspecting installperl I checked that
indeed t/rantests doesn't exist.

Looking back at diffs 9217.gz

+++ perl/Makefile.SH    Sun Mar 18 15:26:21 2001

I can see that the echo command that used to create this
flag file has been removed.

- @echo "Ran tests" > t/rantests

The design should be made consistent
