Hold it right there! ;-)

Can we please sort out what $src is supposed to contain? I just put
$src/UU/... in hints/solaris_2.sh, relying on it to be an absolute path.
I have no problem to change that, but poor Alan Burlison has to run
all the tests again just for this change, and I'd like to avoid that.

Hmm. I just grepped for $src in non-PM-files, and I found this idiom
a few times: ../$src. Also, afew other hints scripts use $src. IIRC,
hints scripts are run with CWD=$src/UU. So they might fail as well.
(hints/freebsd.sh, hints/nonstopux.sh).
