This is a build failure report for perl from sthoenna@efn.org,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.27 running under perl v5.6.0.

Oops, somehow this report didn't get mailed. Still a problem on RC2.

When building on a system with no sockets, I get:

`sh  cflags libperl.lib pp_sys.obj` -Zdll pp_sys.c
	  CCCMD =  gcc -DPERL_CORE -c -Zomf -Zmt -DDOSISH -DOS2=2 -DEMBED -I. -D_EMX_CRT_REV_=62 -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -s -DDEBUGGING
pp_sys.c: In function `Perl_pp_sysread':
pp_sys.c:1507: warning: assignment makes pointer from integer without a cast
pp_sys.c:1509: warning: comparison between pointer and integer
pp_sys.c:1510: invalid operands to binary +
pp_sys.c:1510: invalid operands to binary -
make: *** [pp_sys.obj] Error 1

The immediate problem seems to be sock size type being set to char *
Here's a patch:

 	esac

 *)	: no sockets, so pick relatively harmless defaults
-	socksizetype='char *'
+	socksizetype='int'
 	;;
 esac

A better fix would be to not go through code using sock size when there
are no sockets.
