Bug in 5.6.0 RC1?: no compilation errors displayed
Message ID:

This is a bug report for perl from mailto:Wolfgang.Laun@alcatel.at
generated with the help of perlbug 1.27 running under perl v5.5.670.

[Please enter your report here]
<< This may be in a strange format. If so, I'm sorry. >>
If, during compilation,
a) the error limit is exceeded and
b) among the errors is one out of a certain set of errors,
then no error messages are shown except (e.g.):
   Burp.pm has too many errors.
   Compilation failed in require at ./try.pl line 4.
(All such errors I've found so far seem to have in common that the diagnostic
in toke.c is coded as "yyerror(Perl_form(aTHX_ ...")
Example:
cat >try.pl <<[TheEnd]
#! /usr/bin/perl
use strict;
use Burp;
[TheEnd]
cat >Burp.pm <<[TheEnd]
package Burp;
use strict;
$a = 1;$f = 1;$k = 1; # just to get beyond the limit...
$b = 1;$g = 1;$l = 1;
$c = 1;$h = 1;$m = 1;
$d = 1;$i = 1;$n = 1;
$e = 1;$j = 1;$o = 1;
$p = 0b12; # either this error
$s = "@x"; # or this
[TheEnd]
