Perl binary installs twice?

I just noticed something funny.  Perl5.6.0RC3 installed its binary as
both perl and perl5.6.0.  There's no difference in the binary, just
the name.  Shouldn't this be a symlink (on systems that have symlinks,
of course)?  Same for suidperl and sperl5.6.0.

5.005_03 appears to do the same thing.  Is there a reason?
