Please, can we have some clarity on what you're trying to say here?
I completely do not get it.

Specifically, I don't understand what you mean by "path" in the above.
If I had the time and energy to carve my own path w.r.t to the RE
engine, I wouldn't be annoying you with my sadness at things being
broken in it.  Perhaps I should just give up trying to convince
others to fix things and instead go hack reg*.c in isolation. :-(
