endhostent_r() prototype NOT found

Hi there,

I'm trying to compile a brand new perl 5.8.2 from source.
After checking all posibilities I could imagine for several days, I now hope
anyone kan help me through...

during the configure script I get the following (an some more, from the same
source):

----

endhostent_r() found.
endhostent_r() prototype NOT found.

*** WHOA THERE!!! ***
    The recommended value for $d_endhostent_r_proto on this machine was
"define"!
    Keep the recommended value? [y]

---

I tried it with an without the option, only to result in getting a broken
perl either.
The following make test (an the perl harness too) fails. Seems like I have a
broken header file (possibly netdb.), but I can't figure out where to get
one which is up to date.
My system is a SuSE Linux 7.2 with kernel 2.4.22

Thanx for help,

Jens
