New CPANTS metrics
Message ID:
Two days ago or so I posted a blog entry about the new CPANTS metrics.

I am glad that already there are some comments about them
even if both chromatic and Andy Lester are well, slightly against them
and even Ovid did not like the Test::NoWarnings metric.

I know they all are authorities in matters of quality but I hope at some
point I might be able to either convince them or learn from them how
to improve these metrics.

Anyway, shall we leave all the fun to the readers only?

I am sending this to both the module-authors list so you can be
aware of the new metrics and the perl-qa list as they might
have a few words as well regarding kwalitee.

BTW if you go to CPANTS
you will see that all the new metrics are marked as experimental
and as such by default they are not supposed to be displayed.

Also if you as a module author are interested in what's the status of
your module in downstream distros (well, currently only debian)
then you can go to CPANTS and check it out.

There are two issues regarding the criticism:
1) I did not find any mention of any new metric that would be good.
I'd be really glad to hear ideas of what could be a good metric?

2) True, it would be great if more of the module authors knew about
CPANTS and cared. I agree so how could we let them know about
it besides posting on and on this mailing list?
     Maybe ? Any other ideas?
