Job title:
Remote, Modern Perl Developer to Build New Applications

Company name: CourtAPI

Location: Remote, Americas, Europe

Pay rate: Market. Commensurate to experience.

Terms of employment: Independent contractor (hourly)

Hours: Full time

Onsite: no

Description:
At CourtAPI.com and our sister website, CourtDrive.com, we are building
solutions that enable law firms and other power courthouse website users to
become more efficient by automating daily tasks. Conceptually we’re
building an ETL system with fuzzy data sources and an API in front of the
end results. We’re based in Los Angeles but have a remote team worldwide
(Canada, Europe, Armenia to name a few). We’re looking for a Perl developer
to help us advance our mission by: building new webservices by scraping
state court websites, building and supporting our CourtAPI solution, and
helping keep our modern Perl codebase well oiled.

Desired skills:
You:
- Feel right at home building core features in Perl `grep {
$_->{loves_perl} } @candidates`
- Write code so clean, fast, testable and
elegant, you might just hang it on your mantle.
- Have solid relational db
skills. We use PostgreSQL and manage it with Sqitch
- Have a strong working
knowledge with WWW::Mechanize or Mojo::UA, and Catalyst or Mojolicious
-
Have experience developing microservices and documenting APIs.
- Some
DevOps experience. We are on AWS and provision with terraform and deploy to
Kubernetes.
- Are disciplined and efficient in your approach to
architecture and stability.
- Self starter. Hate to be micromanaged. Will
spend at least ten minutes trying to find a solution to a problem before
seeking help. Open to suggestions, but also won’t waste time wandering for
hours if a teammate might know the answer off hand. Yes, it’s a fine line
:)
- Have strong communication skills and be a genuinely nice person :)

Helpful:
- Github or CPAN page to review your sample code
- Docker and
OpenAPI (Swagger) experience a plus
