The Games::Golf namespace is available!
Message ID:

As you probably know, a little team of golfers did work on a Games::Golf
module that was supposed to generically test golf programs. The plan was
to write golf courses as .glf file, which is a mix of pod (for the rules)
and of code (for the tests, tiebreaker and all that). And it was supposed
to work on Unix and Windows, with STDERR capture and such. It was also
meant to test subroutines as well as full scripts.

Maybe we were too ambitious, or had too little time... Many of us had
others interests in real life (work, studies, marriage, and I must be
missing a few others), and the golf community is so active!

Nowadays, the way to test golf entries is now to use the generic golf
tester created by Ton Hospel.

But maybe there is still room for a Games::Golf module. The main problem
is that none of the original gang (Philippe Bruhat, Jonathan Paton, Jérôme
Quelin, Amir Karger, Steffen Müller, Eugène Van der Pijll) seems to have
the time or motivation to work on it.

Or maybe a more general Games::ProgrammingContest module, that can
implement testing and scoring any kind of Perl programming contest, who

We have therefore decided to make the Games::Golf namespace available for
takers. This means that I'll transfer maitainership of the Games::Golf
module to the ones who ask for it.

There already is a CVS repository and a developpers mailing-list for
Games::Golf, hosted on the Mongueurs de Perl servers ("Les Mongueurs de
Perl" is the name of the French Perl Mongers), so maybe we just need to
add you to the list of developpers, and let you change everything you want
to make something better out of (or without) what we programmed.

Versions 0.08 to 0.15 of the module are on CPAN:

The documentation is readable online:

If you are interested, please contact the current Games::Golf developpers
