Well, I have been lurking for a while (and watching myself fall steadily
down the money charts) but I can certainly beat that:

(A rather dull posting of 1988-07-19, and before I'd really used perl
very much :-)

The next one that Google has is from 1989-12-11, pre-announcing my
hacked port of Perl to MS-DOS. I bet eval.c wouldn't compile in 640k of
memory now :-)

Another old posting of interest is the vote for the creation of
comp.lang.perl - the list of the "no" voters contains a
surprising name):
