For real history (and more possibility of embarrassment), you
have to go to Usenet postings.  I used Google to track down
the earliest post by each of Andrew's list in a Perl-related
newsgroup.  Some of the addresses have changed over the years,
so I hope I haven't misattributed posts by people who happened
to share a name:

1992-05-23: Rick Klement, comp.lang.perl, asking about hash
            keys, answered by Tom Christiansen and Larry Wall

1996-05-04: Keith C. Ivey, comp.lang.perl.misc, answering a
            FAQ (probably a bad practice) about months and

            capturing output

1996-08-22: Piers Cawley, comp.lang.perl.misc, asking about raw

            the debugger

            someone with while loops, and sporting a netiquette-
            defyingly ostentatious sig

            toward the LWP documentation

1999-11-07: BooK, fr.comp.lang.perl, refining someone's string-
            trimming method

2000-02-10: Andrew Savige, comp.lang.perl.misc, comparing
            perl's speed with that of gawk and mawk

2000-03-30: Stephen Turner, de.comp.lang.perl.cgi, answering
            someone's question about sorting log files (there's
            a 1995 post by a Stephen Turner from Redmond
            Technology Group, but I don't think it's our

2000-07-05: Amir Karger,, asking about

2001-05-23: Dave Hoover, comp.lang.perl (which was long dead by
            that time), helping someone read and parse a file
