For real history (and more possibility of embarrassment), you
have to go to Usenet postings. I used Google to track down
the earliest post by each of Andrew's list in a Perl-related
newsgroup. Some of the addresses have changed over the years,
so I hope I haven't misattributed posts by people who happened
