Surprise! I can't beat Ton.
But I did find a (perhaps juvenile) solution that I find amusing
for some reason. I have named it: "five substitutions".

-l s--$"x$^F**pop-e,s-.-s,^ ,,,s,$,/\\,,print,s,(?<=\\)..,$&^h9^gE,ge-ge

I expect Ton has already explored and rejected this line of play.
