.... in a post to cplm on 2000-08-28. But ALH is older: the first
occurrence I've found is from a post on 1996/06/22 by Joseph N. Hall.

Hmmm. That's just using -X as it was meant to be used. But if -X is
Ton's flag, -w is mine.
