I looked (briefly) into vmailmgr and decided that vpopmail was a better
way to go, if for no other reason that it is still under active
development. I'm not saying that all old software is necessarily bad
(I'm still using qmail, right?), but there is a very long list of
features that were supposed to be added to vmailmgr, but nothing has
been done since early 2001.
My recommendation is to switch vpopmail, since I wrote the auth module
specifically for that package because it does support a database for
authentication purposes (but then again, I'm biased)... ;-)
