IIRC, Dr. Dobb's reported a similar (if not the same) test a couple years ago. However, they speculated a known bug in the MFC for the C++ test is what caused it to be slower. They were doing textual processing, and C, Perl, and awk, I believe, were pretty quick, with the problematic C++ in the middle, and Java significantly slower. But that was then... -- Bryan C.
