Parrot 4.1.0 "Black-headed Parrot" Released

On behalf of the Parrot team, I'm proud to announce Parrot 4.1.0, also known
as "Black-headed Parrot".  Parrot ( is a virtual machine aimed
at running all dynamic languages.

Parrot 4.1.0 is available on Parrot's FTP site
(, or by following the
download instructions at  For those who would like
to develop on Parrot, or help develop Parrot itself, we recommend using Git to
retrieve the source code to get the latest and best Parrot code.

Parrot 4.1.0 News:
    - Core
        + Shared libraries and installable binaries are now stripped if
          built with --optimize on Cygwin, which greatly reduces their
          size on disk
        + New experimental PCC-related ops added to core.
    - Documentation
        + Revised 'docs/project/release_manager_guide.pod'
    - Tests
        + Parrot now uses Travis CI
        + Parrot Continuous Integration (CI) with Travis CI means
          every commit of Parrot is now compiled and tested on gcc,
          g++ and clang with various options.
        + CI Notifications are sent to parrot-dev, the #parrot
          IRC channel and Smolder
        + Cardinal and Rakudo spec tests also on Travis CI
