What happened here was that I got an email and didn't like it. It was from a
friend, and while I could appreciate some of the sentiment of it, I didn't care
for the tone of it, and I made a blunder: instead of wandering away from the
console to read a book or play cards, I griped about it on IRC.

If I ever get hate mail, I will respond swiftly and, if necessary, publicly.
This wasn't it, though. It should've blown over after a couple emails back and
forth with the friend in question, but instead it ended up here in public, and
I really wish it had not.

Obviously, the corrective action for me to take is to do my grumbling to my
spouse or rubber duck, or maybe the bartender over at Hometown Heroes. That is
what I will do from now on. If nothing else, it's an excuse to sit at the bar
more often.

If you catch me grumbling about being ill-treated in some way — which I hope
you will not — please remind me that I should go take a walk or play some crazy
eights. Please do not amplify my mistake. After all, you can imagine that
*obviously* the person at the other end of this email exchange knows what's up,
and now I have to deal with the notion that I'm griping about hate mail.

So, on the subject of dealing rationally with my own feelings, I'm copping to a
mistake here and I don't think I'll make it again any time soon.

...but thanks for all the +1's anyway! They're great. Go give some kudos to
other people whose work you appreciate. They'll be happy, too. :-)
