Even if Modern Art is thought-provoking and can be beautiful, few people would build a house out of it. I'd much prefer perl5db.pl to be entirely boring and contain lots of clear POD as well as an easily-readable structure.

Your points right now consist entirely of "I'm afraid of change." That is a valid position to take if the environment isn't changing (as in a huge enterprise company); however perl core is changing rapidly and perl5db.pl being resistant to change is a huge danger in itself.

What happens if a perl 5 core change ends up inadvertantly breaking perl5db.pl in the future and no-one is able to fix it because the code is so "beautiful"?
