OK, gcc 4.2.4 works for me, too.
It looks like "$^V" is broken in miniperl, "$^C" does only return a 0A.

I just tested XL C/C++ with the latest July 2011 PTF - same result.

Yes, I also found no changed to configpm. I think the problem is in
miniperl.
Where is "$^C" build exactly?
I did not run a bisect for a long time, do you have a "refresher"?

Not yet, but I might be able to setup something (in the connections to
the Internet could be limited to git).
