Operating System usage straw poll of participants at the German Perl Workshop
While I was in the audience at the German Perl Workshop I was peeking
at peoples laptops to see what they were using, (and trying to see
what kind of new laptop id like to buy) and was somewhat surprised by
the OS'es in use.

So I organized a straw poll to get some numbers. Keep in mind people
could vote more than once. Nevertheless I think the numbers are
interesting, I certainly didn't expect to see so many Windows machines
in use given the nature of the crowd.

Operating System	OS Class	Count
Win32	Win32	41
Debian	Linux	36
SUSE Linux	26
Solaris	Unix	24
Ubuntu	Linux	22
BSD	Unix	19
Red Hat	Linux	16
OS-X	Unix	14
Gentoo	Linux	4
AIX	Unix	2
HP/UX	Unix	2
Mandriva	Linux	2
Slackware	Linux	2
VMS	VMS	2
----------------------------------------------------------------
OS Class
Linux	108
Unix	61
VMS	2
Win32	41
----------------------------------------------------------------
Total Result	212

BTW, many thanks to the GPW organizers, I definitely had a great time
and am looking forward to attending again next year.

cheers,
Yves
ps: The unix/linux breakdown is my own, apologies if i mis-categorized
anybodys platform.
