    This reverts commit 1061b56a7b2cc84a8ac96a405e5b8c185936605c.
    
    This is a reversion of a reversion.  The reversion in 1061b56a7b2cc was
    a bizarre mistake made during merging some blead/release conflicts, and
    rjbs sincerely apologizes!
