Module submission Tie::File::Hashify by Perl Authors Upload Server

From: Perl Authors Upload Server
The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

modid: Tie::File::Hashify
DSLIP: bdpr2
description: Parse files and tie 'em to hashes.
userid: JKRAMER (Jonas Kramer)
chapterid: 6 (Data_Type_Utilities)
communities:

similar:

rationale:

I think Tie::File::Hashify is a good namespace, because it
hashifies a file and ties it to a hash. I couldn't find anything
similar on CPAN. The module is meant to make parsing simple
structured text files (like basic configurations etc.) more fun.

enteredby: JKRAMER (Jonas Kramer)
enteredon: Sat May 17 18:17:50 2008 GMT

The resulting entry would be:

Tie::File::
::Hashify bdpr2 Parse files and tie 'em to hashes. JKRAMER

Thanks brian! App::SweeperBot it is. ;)

I'm currently using pp to build a stand-alone Windows .exe file which can be
run without perl (or anything else) having been installed. The resulting
.exe is 6.6MB in size, which is rather large[1], but I'd love to include it
in the dist.

Would including the .exe be considered an abuse of CPAN or cause any other
issues? If so, then I can arrange for alternate hosting for people who just
want their machines to play minesweeper without worrying about installing Perl.

[1] It includes a bunch of screen capturing and image manipulation libraries.

If the main reason for this module is to prevent concurrent access,

Fine with me. :)

Your name didn't mention JSON, it only said Serialize :)

Serialize to JSON, or any format, isn't that spectacular. It's just a
text format. That a logging package writes a particular text format
isn't exciting.

Could Log4perl's PatternLayout could do JSON with the right
user-defined pattern? You can pretty much have any format that
you like.

Module submission LSF_PERL_API by Perl Authors Upload Server

From: Perl Authors Upload Server
The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

modid: LSF_PERL_API
DSLIP: Rdpfo
description: Perl extension for LSF Base.
userid: LSFISV (PlatformISV)
chapterid: 24 (Commercial_Software_Interfaces)
communities:
http://www.hpccommunity.org/forumdisplay.php?f=53

similar:

rationale:

This package contains two modules allowing Platform's LSF APIs to
be called by PERL.

In the Base module, the APIs allow PERL application programs to
contact the Load Information Manager (LIM) and Remote Execution
Server (RES) daemons in order to obtain LSF services. These services
include obtaining static system configuration information and
dynamic load information for the hosts in distributed clusters,
obtaining task placement advice from LIM, executing tasks (UNIX
processes) on remote hosts with a high degree of transparency using
RES, remote file operations across hosts that do not share file
systems, performing remote terminal I/O and signal operations, and
other related functions. The developer can build distributed
applications on top of PERL with these APIs to effectively exploit
the resources available on the network, improving application
performance and resource accessibility.

In the Batch module, the APIs allow PERL application programs to
get information about the hosts, queues, users, jobs and
configuration of the batch system; PERL application programs can
also submit jobs, control hosts, queues and jobs, read batch log
files and write batch error messages.

enteredby: LSFISV (PlatformISV)
enteredon: Thu May 15 01:41:17 2008 GMT

The resulting entry would be:

LSF_PERL_API Rdpfo Perl extension for LSF Base. LSFISV

I would like to contribute a set of modules considered as "Open
Statistical Services" that are described in general at
http://openServices.sourceforge.net.

The modules currently involve about 15K lines of PERL. They define
and use systems of statistical models, by making use of algebraic
perspectives as to what statistical models are. Individual modules
for numerical and statistical engines have already been written for
R, SAS, NONMEM, Monolix, WinBUGS, Maple, and CASL. Application areas
to date are proteomics and clinical pharmacology.

For additional details on this project, please see

Thanks!

Module submission XML::RelaxNG::Compact::PXB by Perl Authors Upload Server

From: Perl Authors Upload Server
The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

DSLIP: cdpOd
description: XML RelaxNG DOM data binding to perl objects
userid: MPG (Maxim Grigoriev)
chapterid: 11 (String_Lang_Text_Proc)
communities:

similar:

rationale:

this is submission for the new namespace designed to have multiple
modules targeted on binding XML or RelaxNG DOM obejcts to perl
objects. The DOM objects are provided by LibXML parser and RelaxNG
Compact schema represented as perl data structures is supoprted for
now. The first choosen namespace for this module -
XML::RelaxNG::Compact::PMON was not good enough since name PMON is
already taken by some monitoring project . PXB - Perl XML Binding
sounds like a better choice. The module I am submitting right now
will be dedicated to RelaxNG Compact binding, so any other data
binding module will have an opportunity to have unique name as well.
