Call me petty, but this problem has been around for *years*, hasn't it?

I'm constantly seeing it come up on the list.

Hasn't Apple fixed it yet? The page referred to has some kind of 
reference to "we spotted it too late to put it into jaguar" or 
something. We're up to 10.4 in a week or so...
