Software / Perl Developer

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Evaluate business requirements for client-specific customizations and
provide best approach based on existing product framework
• Work independently with little direct supervision in the development,
testing and maintenance of systems of moderate size/complexity
• Work closely with the business analysts and project managers through the
scoping, testing and documentation phases
• Provide adequate and proactive support for various applications
• Participates and maintains relationships with business units, customers
and information technology subject matter experts in order to remain
apprised of direction, project status, architectural and technology issues,
risks and functional/integration issues.

Required skills:
Experience and Qualifications:

• Able to interpret business requirements to write Perl programs that solve
business needs 
• Significant exposure to and demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of
programming and analysis, including software requirements, systems and
execution
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work on several small to medium projects simultaneously
• Must be well organized and self motivated and be able to work with some
or little supervision
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; Good
negotiation skills are a plus
• Ability to work with others in a team environment

Required Skills:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 2 years in software development with at least 1 year using a scripting
language
• 1-2 years programming in Perl, including solid understanding of
multidimensional data structures, references, regular expressions
• Experience with SQL (Oracle preferred, Sybase, MySQL, or Postgres are
fine as well)
• Experience in command line Unix/Linux environments
• Familiar with Object Oriented Programming

Desired skills:
Skills preferred, but not required:

• Object Oriented Perl
• Experience with the following Perl Modules: CGI, DBI, DBD::Oracle, Carp
• Ability to write own Perl Modules and subroutine packages
• Experience with Oracle
• JavaScript
• Experience developing an email delivery application
• Test-Driven Development
