Posted: May 31, 2012 Job title: Email Systems Engineer Company name: Synacor Inc Internal ID: 1664 Location: Buffalo, NY Pay rate: DOE Terms of employment: Salaried employee Hours: Full time Onsite: yes Description: We are seeking an Email Systems Engineer that will be responsible to design and implement solutions for the migration of consumer mailboxes using our custom migration framework. This job will involve migrating millions of email accounts from disparate customer email systems into Synacor's Email Platform. The Email Systems Engineer must pair their experience in Ruby and Perl development with creativity and problem solving. Required skills: In-depth knowledge and experience programming Perl and Ruby A minimum of 3 years development experience in software or website development; proven experience developing large-scale database-driven applications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience Ability to use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services Ability to solve complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions Familiar with Unix/Linux use, scripting and tools Able to work in a collaborative environment Desired skills: In-depth knowledge and experience programming Java a plus Understanding of email: mail routing, mail storage, IMAP and SMTP protocols and experience with Zimbra a plus Experience with MongoDB or equivalent a plus.
