About this Job

At Polyvore, we strive to build products that delight people. By design, we
keep things simple on the surface yet go to great lengths to make them run
better under the hood. As a frontend engineer, you will be involved with
the design, implementation, polish, and A/B testing of features and library
utils. You will iterate quickly to improve Polyvore in response to data and
user feedback. You'll also be responsible for frontend performance and code
cleanliness. Your tools will be HTML/JS/CSS on the client and perl/MySQL on
the webserver.

About You 

Some qualities that we’re looking for:

•  You love building and improving products and get satisfaction in making
your users happy 
•  Your friends call you a perfectionist and you think they are totally
exaggerating 
•  You love experimenting with the latest HTML5/CSS3 whizbang feature to
make your code cleaner, simpler, or faster but you never forget about your
IE users 
•  Not only do you enjoy building websites, you also enjoy taking them
apart and learning how they tick 
•  Using various tools, you can answer “how do you make this page faster?”

Required skills:
Requirements

•  BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent 
•  Web development experience, preferably on a LAMP platform 
•  JavaScript / HTML / CSS / AJAX ninja 
•  At least basic SQL and some programming / scripting (java or c++ or perl
or python etc.) skills. 
•  Experience writing complex, event-driven JavaScript applications 
•  Familiarity with Apache, squid, nginx, memcached is a big plus.
