Description:
Perl Web Developer, a part of a team of computational genomics developers
focusing on biological data mining, visualization and analysis. The ideal
candidate will have a good understanding and enthusiasm for Perl
Development, as well as for web applications design and implementation.

Responsibilities:
* Develop Perl applications, database calls, and parsing web content
* Maintain the existing codebase
* Work closely with users – plant scientists - to understand their needs
and provide computational solutions
* Develop web applications for biological data mining, visualization and
analysis.

Required skills:
Skills:
* Solid Perl programming skills
* Proficient in Object Oriented design and development
* Familiarity with web technologies including HTML, Javascript, jQuery,
ExtJS
* Experience with relational databases (preferably Oracle) and SQL queries
* Comfortable in Linux/Unix environment
* A number of years experience in commercial software development in an
established team

Qualifications:
* Great communication skills and a professional and friendly manner
* Confidence to work independently and under own initiative, pro-active
work attitude
* Excellent time-management skills, ability to multi-task. The candidate is
expected to contribute to multiple areas concurrently
* Innovative, innovative, innovative

Academic Education:
* Computer Science degree or equivalent is required
* Background in plant science / bioinformatics / biology is a big Plus!
