You should probably add them like this:

$class .= "::dr";
$drh = DBI::_new_drh($class, {
'Name' => 'NuoDB',
'Version' => $VERSION,
'Err' => \my $err, # ADDED
'Errstr' => \my $errstr, # ADDED

});
return $drh;
}
