How to find the author of a test report and some observations
Hi,

I look after DBD::ODBC and DBIx::Log4perl and have a new error report in
DBD::ODBC I'd like to investigate. I'd like to find the person who
submitted the report and this is where I've got to:

o found error report on DBD::ODBC dated 9th May. I don't get emails
about errors now so I just stumbled across this when I noticed it said 4
failures and my recollection was there were 3.

I know why you stopped sending emails for error reports but I wish there
was some way of notifying me without me having to remember to keep checking.

o The error report was for version 1.15 of DBD::ODBC but prior to this I
released development releases 1.15_1 and 1.15_2. I was told this was the
way to do development releases before a final release e.g. 1.15_1 then
1.15_2, 1.15_n and final release 1.15. However "Reports for DBD-ODBC"
shows 1.15_2 and 1.15_1 before 1.15 in the list although the stats on
the main DBD::ODBC page are for 1.15. I think this may lead to some
confusion.

o The error report simple says it is from "ewhipple" - who is this
person and how do I find him/her to discuss the failure? At first I
thought this may be a cpan user but I cannot find an "ewhipple".

o Whoever, "whipple" is it appears he/she is using a CPAN::Reporter
which says:

"Please cc any replies to cpan-testers@perl.org to keep other
test volunteers informed and to prevent any duplicate effort"

I presume this is just because he/she is using an old CPAN::Reporter as
the email address cpan-testers@perl.org is no longer used.

o The start of the report says:

"This distribution has been tested as part of the cpan-testers
effort to test as many new uploads to CPAN as possible. See
http://testers.cpan.org/"

Is there more information somewhere else other than the above URL about
the reports, how they are generated, what to expect to find in them,
what the report means, how to get in touch with the report author etc

There is also a link to http://lists.cpan.org/showlist.cgi?name=cpan-testers
but here again, I thought this list was stopped - the last entry in the
archive appears to be "Mon, 18 Feb 2008 16:09:36 -0800".

o The last comment in the report says:

"If you believe that the message is mistaken, please reply to the first
one with correction and/or additional informations, and do not take
it personally. We appreciate your patience. :)"

but I cannot reply to it as it was not sent via email.

I greatly appreciate cpan-testers efforts to test my releases and the
support I've had from them so none of the above is meant as criticism it
is more just an account of how I got here in case it helps. If anyone
can tell me who ewhipple is I would still like to discuss my test
failure with him/her.

Thanks

Martin
